The book drop is open for you to return your books.

Curbside contactless service has begun, here's how it works:

  •  place a hold online for your desired book(s)

  • wait for a call from the library to say it's available, and to set up a pick up time,

  • once at the library parking lot call 732-531-5092  from your car (have your library card number available),

  • a staff member will put your item(s) on the table outside for you to pick up.

Read as many books as you like, but after you've read and logged 4 of them, you will be eligible for a prizes to be given out in September!

There are SO many digital offerings you can access with your library card.  

If you need to apply for a library card for the first time, you can email Diana Zambrano to request a card. IMPORTANT:  YOU MUST EMAIL A COPY OF YOUR DRIVER'S LICENSE WITH YOUR REQUEST.

**If you have a library card and it needs to be renewed  you can emailBranch Librarian Diana Zambrano  and she can renew your card remotely.

Library of Congress – By the People

Do you like history AND libraries?

Be part of both by becoming  a virtual volunteer.  Help the Library of Congress add notes and transcriptions to materials they have in their collection.    

In 2018 the Library of Congress started a crowd sourcing project, By the People, reaching out to the public for help in transcribing archival images and documents.

The opening of the art show in the Terner Gallery featuring works of artist Linda Alston has been postponed and will be featured in next year's schedule on July 21, 2021.  Watch for more news about this cultural event.

Township of Ocean Historical

Museum

The museum is reopening on Sundays beginning on

July 12th through August 30th

from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. 

The museum will NOT be open

Labor Day weekend.  

PLEASE NOTE:

FACE MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED OF ALL STAFF AND VISITORS. 

NO MORE THAN SIX GUESTS WILL BE PERMITTED INSIDE AT ONE TIME. 

 Hand sanitizer will be available for visitors.

 Be ready when the library opens for a new collaborative offering for book groups.

The Library is offering "Book-Group Kits" on topics related to exhibits on 

display at the Township of Ocean Historical Museum.  

  • Choose a title from the Library's list

  • Pick up your books at the Library

  • Arrange a date to meet as a group at the museum

  • Hold your meeting at the Museum, complete with a tour of the related exhibit if you wish.

The Library is Offering Universal Class!

  Universal Class offers over 500 online continuing education classes with CEU certification documents upon completion.  There are courses in business and finance, Science, Careers, Crafts and hobbies, homeschooling, teacher resources, law, writing, math, test prep, computer training and applications, web development and much more.

This is a great resource - take advantage of it!

Friends of the Library recently purchased six rolling and handled shopping baskets to help carry your items to the check-out desk.   Please have a look at the baskets once the library re-opens and give your honest feedback about them to the library staff.  Thanks!

Fun (and important) Facts About the Ocean Library

  • 252,000 books were circulated (borrowed) in 2019!

  • 22,995 electronic books were borrowed!

  • In December alone, the library had 8,584 visitors!

  • And... no surprise here... from February through April ebook usage increased 34%
