The library building will be open with

limited (25%) capacity and limited hours, 

Monday through Thursday from 1-9 pm,

Friday, 1-5pm

and Saturday 9am-1pm

 

You will be allowed into the building for short browsing, to pick up requested material and to use a computer by appointment only

  • All patrons and staff will be required to wear face coverings at all times as per NJ Executive Order 157 and to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

  • You will be asked to limit your stay to a reasonable amount of time  

  • Due to capacity limits, you may be asked to wait before entering the building.

  • Curbside pickup continues to be available

Monday, 10am-1pm

Tues, Wed., Thurs., 9am-1pm

Here's how curbside works:

  •  place a hold online @ monmouthcountylib.org for your desired book(s)

  • wait for an automated call from the library to say it's available

  • Call the library to set up a pick up time, (732-531-5092

  • once at the library parking lot at your schedules pickup time, call 732-531-5092  from your car (have your library card number available), 

  • a staff member will put your item(s) on the table outside for you to pick up

The August Gallery exhibit of artist Diane Greenblatt has been canceled.

 

The opening of the art show in the Terner Gallery featuring works of artist Linda Alston has been postponed and will be featured in next year's schedule on July 21, 2021.  Watch for more news about this cultural event.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Township of Ocean Historical

Museum

The museum is open on Sundays

through August 30th

from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. 

The museum will NOT be open

Labor Day weekend.  

PLEASE NOTE:

FACE MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED OF ALL STAFF AND VISITORS. 

NO MORE THAN SIX GUESTS WILL BE PERMITTED INSIDE AT ONE TIME. 

 Hand sanitizer will be available for visitors.  

The Museum has added a new feature to its website - check out the new "Museum At Home" offerings that you can view and enjoy from the safety of your home. View here.

  • Have fun watching “Hometown Histories” -interviews with locals who lived our history.

  • Enjoy the Curator’s Cabinet and learn about curious items in the collection

  • Search for and learn about historical homes or structures in our town

 Be ready when the library opens for a new collaborative offering for book groups.

The Library is offering "Book-Group Kits" on topics related to exhibits on 

display at the Township of Ocean Historical Museum.  

  • Choose a title from the Library's list

  • Pick up your books at the Library

  • Arrange a date to meet as a group at the museum

  • Hold your meeting at the Museum, complete with a tour of the related exhibit if you wish.

  Universal Class offers over 500 online continuing education classes with CEU certification documents upon completion.  There are courses in business and finance, Science, Careers, Crafts and hobbies, homeschooling, teacher resources, law, writing, math, test prep, computer training and applications, web development and much more.

One of the lucky bookmark entries for the April Monmouth Countly library book mark design challenge, Ann's winning design will be printed and distributed once the library reopens.      

Pilot Program Begun!
Friends of the Library recently purchased six rolling and handled shopping baskets to help carry your items to the check-out desk.  

IUnfortunately the baskets will not be available until further notice due to the protocol for controlling the COVID-19 pandemic since they are considered high-touch areas.

  • 252,000 books were circulated (borrowed) in 2019!

  • 22,995 electronic books were borrowed!

  • In December 2019 alone, the library had 8,584 visitors!

  • And... no surprise here... from February through April ebook usage increased 34%
